I came close to meeting you many times, long ago
Yet here I am still breathing, and humbled to do so
I told you that I would always walk with you, trying to bargain for another sunrise
You kept your end of the bargain, I have tried to keep mine
Thank you Lord for Borrowed Time

No living out of a pack, not hungry today cuz it's empty
No steep hills to climb, no sleepless nights in the rain
No more blasts to wake the night, no heat to cook a man's brain
No rounds singing by, don't need a canteen to wash the taste of fear out of my mouth
Thank you Lord for Borrowed Time

When the freedom bird came to take me home
Wheels off the ground I didn't know to laugh or cry.
No speed too fast, no dive too deep, no jump to high, to feed my addiction.
Adrenaline my drug of choice, trying to wash the guilt of Borrowed Time from my Soul
Thank you Lord for Borrowed Time

Blessed with the woman of my dreams, mother to my children
Counselor to my darker side, mistress of my nights
I pray my life was not a waste, I have tried to live the life of a man on Borrowed Time
I pray I have honored the men who had NO Borrowed Time
Thank you Lord for Borrowed Time

Why was it them and not me with NO Borrowed Time.
If it is true a coward dies a thousand deaths and a brave man but once
Then why do these brave men die again and again in my dreams?
Thank you Lord for Borrowed Time
